Mom, what are you doing to me

Kirby has his yearly (first one) vet check up. He is doing great, no problems other than his weight. He gained a pound in the last 2 months! We noticed the side bulges ans suspected Dr. Hector would not be pleased. SO, our options are cut his food, again, or go on special diet food.

I having putting a third of a cup in each bowl twice a day for some time. I make it a level measure, but Dad has been rounding it. Then they have been sharing a container of Meow Mix at night. So I have changed the dipper to a quarter cup measure. ans will cut the wet food to every other night. If I do not see any results in a couple of months, we will go with the diet food.

Kirby: I was not pleased! I did not want to get in the PTU! I have always gotten in it for Mom, but yesterday I fought it. Now she knows why! I knew nothing good could come out of that trip!

Mom: Sorry , Kirby, but you have to see Dr.Hector at least once a year!

Kirby: Mom also got a torture device for me! She put it on me ans I was a way in a flash.

Mom: Kirby, It is a harness, a cat holster, so we can learn to go outside in a controlled way.

Kirby: The first time I freaked out. The second time was not so bad. Who knows, I may learn to like it! (it is blue denim so you may have to biggify the picture to see it better)

Walking low!

I have had enough!

And the action shots!

Look! I got two tails!

And Mom turned her back for a second and missed the best part. This is what she saw when she looked back!

And here I am telling that old thing just what I think.

Kirby is lucky that you want him to go outside in a controlled way. It will keep the vet bills down. I had to keep my Tabatha in, the last 7 years. She would cost me $250 a pop. She loved to fight other cats over her domain.

I prefer to have my shirts off too. I wish humans wouldn't keep trying to dress me...

Haha! That's funny how you got your harness off, Kirby. We're sorry that your mom is making you go on a diet. :p That's no fun. But we're glad you're otherwise okay!

Purrs and hugs,

Wow Kirby, you're going to get outside? That's very cool. Did your humans count in the fact that Winter is on it's way? We mean you've put on that extra pound to stay warm... ;)

You are a great escape artist. I have two kinds of harness and I didn't like either one at first. Now, I beg to have my leash like one on because I know I get to go outsidey!!

Well done at doinf so well at the vets. Winter is coming here so that's our excuse for putting on some 'puppy' fat.

What a scary thing you had to wear. Good on you for putting the bitey on it!

We would fight the harness thing too and make it get off.

Wow, Kirby, you are quite the escape artist.

My beloved Q, the one who came before, was a very heavy cat at one point... 16 lbs! He was on a special diet for most of his life, getting fed two times a day, breakfast and dinner. He didn't have food out all the time because he would eat it all. I know that Q would understand your predicament just as I understand your mom's concern about your weight.

Good luck!

Ooooh your VET visit does not sound fun. It is something we all have to go through though. If you are careful your Mom will not make you go more than once a year.

Kirby, have you asked your mom about giving you grain-free wet food only? Our mom put Tucker on this diet and he lost (slowly) six pounds! It really works.

I think maybe something is wrong with your scale, Kirby. You look so fit and trim.
hee hee, what WAS that thing on you?? Good job getting it off.

What an Action Cat you are! I know it's not fun--but everything else is great with you--and that's what counts!

Getting some exercise and fresh air outside might be just what Kirby needs to keep from gaining more weight. If he realizes that the only way he gets to go out is with a harness, then he'll learn to like it, or at least to accept it.

Kirby, I bet you have that pound that Kirzon lost - I wondered where it went!

And you are very Houdini like to get out of the harness like that!

What kind of foods do you get to eat Kirby?? My mum says that foods with corn stuff in it can make you chubby because it is all carbs that us kitties don't need. We need meaty stuff! :) I hope she doesn't make you go on a diet.
