Not so easy Sunday

Mom: Kirby is a curious (nosy) kitty. He wants to get into every thing. He found a way behind the washer and dryer and broke the dryer exhaust hose. We pulled it out and repaired it. Then this week, he did it again. Even though we thought we had his entry way blocked. The laundry 'room' is the entry from the kitchen to the garage and is only as wide as the two appliances with two doors in it. In other words it is tiny and cramped when you have to wiggle one or the other to work on them.

We started out this morning to repair the the hose. We had indoor/out door carpet in front of the appliances so they would not just slide. They had to be lifted slightly and then slid. Our Son suggester Super Sliders but the carpet was still an issue. So I took it out. How do you get the carpet tape and its sticky residue off the floor? on your knees and with Goof Off spray. Be sure to have all the windows open cause that stuff will get you high!

While we had then pulled out, we decided to swap them. The washer was on the right and the dryer on the left. Their doors opened against each other. That means we had to lift the wet cloths over both doors to get them in the dryer. For me, the short one in the family, that was a problem.

So off to the hardware store to get parts, longer hoses and more super sliders because when they get carpet tape residue on them, they do not slide! We got the cold water hose disconnected, no problem. Disconnected the hot water ans it was not turned off so started gushing hot water all over the house, garage and my husband. Now, both the dryer and washer are blocking access to the garage, so I had to go through the house to another door and around the house and turn off the water at the water heater.

Thank heavens for SHAMWOW! Four big ones and four small ones started soaking up gallons of water.

After the mess was cleaned up and the appliances in their new place, this is the only way he could plug in the dryer.

This is the temporary blockage to keep Kirby from going behind again. WE are planning to build a wooden block!

And here is the cute kitty, himself! approving the change! He was locked in one room during the whole process and Angel was in another under the bed to keep them safe. She still had not come out.

We know cute kitty pictures are better than this long blog. But a one hour project turned into a 5 hour project!

Wow! I'd be curious about those changes too--and working hard to get back to where I wanted to be again...

I HATE when that happens!! I may be stating the obvious...but couldn' you just switch the way the door opens? I know I can do that with my dryer.

Oh Kirby...we think you better not do that again or else the beans are going to be really mad at you!!

Our mom hadta block off access to behind the washer and dryer too because Ernie tried to get back there...fortunately, he never did...

Thanks for dropping by guys. Looks like the people had all the work to do on Sunday, and Kirby just specialised in looking cute.

Hope the new arrangements suit, as we'd hate to see you have to move the stuff around again.

Oh, Kirby. It's a good thing you're cute. What a mess you made and you didn't even have to clean it up.

Yikes, what a disaster! As my Mommeh says, "nothing is ever easy"! Last year, my Daddeh took this special brush tool on a long metal stick and cleaned the dryer vent. But what happened is it ended up BLOCKING the vent completely so the dryer wouldn't dry. We had a repairman come out and he said he might have to cut some wood in the attic to get to the jammed up spot, but he would try the power cleaner thingy. Luckily it ended up working.

Wow, those look like state-of-the-art washer and dryer! Kirby looks very happy inspecting them from on high. Glad you kept kitties out of the way until they were properly installed!

Oh no! How could one such sweet and innocent looking kitty cause so much work? Hope the Kirby block keeps him out.

Uh oh Kirby, that caused quite some work for the humans. Our mom says she has this happen too: a one hour project turning into a five hour one! Many purrs, at least the positions are better now.

Kirby you are such a mischief maker!

My question is can he get through the top - we had that problem here so we installed a shelf to block the access - now we have stacked them so it is less of a problem but they could still go behind on ours.

That stinks about the water - we had water from the washing machine once but it was because the drain hose popped out - it was located above the litter box so we had a box of gross cement after (and water everywhere else). I still think a cat grabbed the hose thinking it was a toy.

Kirby, you live up to the reputation of your species! Curious and a bit of a trouble-maker! Luckily you have people who love you and can go with the flow - so to speak!

uh oh, it sounds like you need to rest with a cute kitty on your lap, although perhaps Kirby should turn that cuteness up to 11 to make up for all of this. ha ha ha

thank you for coming to my birthday party! i hope you had as much fun as i did.

It sounds like a busy day. We hope you manage to keep Kirby out from behind the dryer, although he looks so cute on top of it.

PS - thank you for the purrs and kind words for Jade. We know she is in a better place looking down on all of her friends. We are sure your purrs helped her journey to be a safe and peaceful one.

Oh my, so much work for what should have been a simple repair! I hate it when that happens...and you end up having to make repeated trips to the hardware store for all sorts of parts you had no idea you needed to begin with. And that Kirby looks totally unrepentant, ready to cause mischief again as soon as possible.

Wow! We have had washer and dryer troubles before! But nothing like yours. No curious kitties! Don't get stuck anywhere Kirby!!
