Tuxie Tuesday

Angel: Mom thinks I am strange but we know she is. Every one in the family knows Mom can not grow plants. But Mom tries to have cat grass for us. You know how it turns out? It turns into hay, all brown and sweet! I love the hay!

Mom brought in some fresh green grass. It will start to wilt by the weekend and be hay next week. She follows the directions, but it just turns brown.

Thanks Mom, now put the flashy box away do I can graze.

Kirby: I am not so much int grass!

It's a good thing that you like hay!

You're lucky your mom tries to grow the grass. We haven't had any in ages here!

We don't have any cat grass at our house because we have seeds and know that they will never grow - we need to start with a plant. I wonder if it is because indoor grass isn't getting enought sun that yours turns to hay. But if you like it then that is probably not something you will want to fix!

Our Mom used to go out every day and break off some grass from the lawn and bring it in for us to graze on.....but where we live now they keep the grass so short she can't break any off.....sigh.......she was telling sisterbean the other day she needed to get some kitty grass for us.

Hope you kitties are staying warm and out of the rain/sleet/snow today!

Purrs and hugs,

It's nice that your mom brought you some grass even if it turns to hay!

Yeah that happens at our house a lot. Some humans just have brown thumbs...

Angel, you're very nice to forgive your human staff for turning cat grass into hay. And she is very thoughtful to try to give you good greens for your digestion.

Well, kitties love to gnaw on it green or brown. Have you been watering it at all? It dries out fast if you don't.

Lucky kitties to have a mama who brings them in fresh greens every week!

Ours has better luck with real plants, but the cat grass she grew for us turned to hay real fast, too...it seemed like there were too many seedlings for the amount of dirt, so it dried out too fast. Or something...

Well, as long as you like the hay, it's a good thing!

We wondered at first if maybe somebody peed on it, but then we thought, no you wouldn't want to eat it at all. We don't like the outdoor grass when it turns to hay. We leave that for the horses.

I provide grass for my boys, yes mine goes brown after a couple of weeks and I just replace. Of course easy here in Australia this time of year though. You could try growing wheat, barley or another grain and satrt them at different times to stagger growth. I might give them a try too so keep an eye out on my blog.

Hahameow, we liked the "before and after" photos! Our mewmie has a brown thumb too, but here is a kind of grass she can even grow!

You can find it at Petco sometimes, but here's a link where to buy it online
