Happy Memorial day

Do you know about Memorial day? When it was created and why?

Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.

It is great to see so many thanking those that are serving and those that severed.  I do not mean to belittle these service men and women.  We should say thank you to them every day not just on  Veterans day.
We really need to thank those that did not come home and remember their families.

Happy Memorial Day! You are absolutely right. Those who have sacrificed should be remembered more than just today. However, it is a day set aside to honour them.

In Canada, we do the same thing on our Remembrance Day in November.

I am surrounded by those who have served and are serving and I have been my entire life, beginning with my Dad in the Korean Conflict. I appreciate every one of them every day!

PS. Your typo -those that severed - made me lol a little tiny bit! :)

Yes we should always remember Mom was happy when a parade in Saragota that almost got cancelled because the Veteran group that though low interest and not enough money got revived by the community through the work of Facebook. It was the most populated parade that shows that the veterans matter.

The best way to say thanks is to make sure our vets get the after-care they deserve. War is hell. Remember the vets when your state legislators are trying to cut back on mental health budgets. Write a letter in support of peer counseling programs for vets--they WORK and they are very cost-effective.
