New friends

Mom went to see her Mom for the 4th. They had to come home early cause Dad forgot some of his medicines so they were home with us for the fireworks. We did not hear many even though they were set off about a mile away. There are gentle hills and a lot of trees between us and the fireworks place, so the sounds were muffled!

Mom Brought us pictures of her Mom's (our grandma) cat and or her sisters cat's. We want you to meet them.

This is Mac. He is a tall kitty but does not weigh much. He has lots of tuxedo floof. His sister, a silky and slender, lived with him, but she had to go to the bridge early. His other brother and sister live with Mom's daughter. That sister is also a floofy tuxedo and that brother is a silky and slender kitty !

This is Stowaway. She was hiding in the water heater compartment of the trailer house Mom's sister now lives in. When they moved it, she stowed away! She is still a little wild but is coming around. She had three babies that are as big as her but she got pregnant again before they cold trap her and get her fixed. Her babies are wildcats, too, but are getting better. They plan to trap all on them and get them fixed so they won't have hundreds of farm cats. At least they have controlled the mouse population! Our Grandma is convinced that Mac thinks stow away is his sister cause she is about the same size and colored similar. Mom got a better picture of her face we will show later. Mom did not get pictures of the three kittens.

This is Brat cat. She lives in the trailer with Mom's sister. She is a sweet loving lap kitty! She was the runt of her litter and was an outside kitty that belonged to Mom's niece. Since she is a truck driver, Brat cat changed homes.

That is all our new friends and family.

Shadow is doing better as of yesterday. She still has a few problems and will stay at the Vet's office till tomorrow when we get an update. They do not know what caused her distress but are doing every thing they can for her.

We are taking it easy the rest of Sunday.

Treat Thursday

Angel: Yesterday's picture I looked like I was upset or mad. Mom had woken me up to take my picture and after three, I was tires of the flashy box. That is all, nothing more.

Kirby: I promise I did not eat all of Angel's share of the crunchies. I do get a little excited and want to eat her stinky goodness at night, but Mom and Dad make sure he is through before I clean her plate.

Angel: We have told you before that I like to play in the garage. It is like going outside to me. I can smell the fresh air under the big door. Kirby was not allowed cause he tends to get over excited and gets into things he should not.

Kirby: I know, I just can't help it. There is so much to see and smell. I was told that I could go out when I turned one. That was almost a month ago.

Angel: Be fair, you have been going out with me for weeks! He won't go out with out the lights on! Great big man cat that he is.

Kirby: Mom! She is laughing at me again! Any way, I have been going out and exploring. I have only knocked one thing down that made a loud noise. It is fun and Angel is right. If the light is not on, I will stand on the step till Mom or Dad turns the light on and then I am off to play .

Angel: When Wizard was here, Dad installed a cat door into the garage. It only lets us back into the house. It use to let us out and back in but Dad was afraid that we would be out in the garage when he came home from work and opened the door and either get scared or run out.
Wizard taught me how to use the door to come in. I have attempted to teach Kirby. Mom has opened the flap and pushed his head through.

Kirby: Sorry! I am not having any of that! I put all four paws on either side of that flap and put a stop to that!

Angel: Even Dad tried to show him and he set his breaks, again. So we go out, and when I am ready I come in and leave him out there. Mom and Dad have to remember to let him in.

Kirby: I try to call to them but you know my voice is so sweet and soft they cannot hear me. So I decided to knock on the flap. It bounces and Mom can hear it. She usually opens the door and lets me in. Last night I knocked and the flap bounced. Mom came over and told me to knock again. I did and the flap flipped enough that Mom grabbed it. Then Dad shook the treat can. I could not resist it! I shoved my head in and my tail followed in a big hurry! I was afraid it should close on me and trap me half in and half out.

Angel: Kirby, you are such a goof! It has never trapped me and it won't trap you!

Kirby: Well, you never know! Any way, We got to share treats cause I was a good boy and knocked to be let in!

Angel: We got treats cause you came through the cat door, goof!

Kirby: oh. Strangely, neither Mom or Dad had a flashy box in their hand to get pictures so we got treats again this afternoon.

Rainy days and Mondays

Angel: Mom and the boys deserted us on Friday. They went to the airport to meet the boys Dad. He had a long layover on his way home, so they had a good visit. Then when they came home at dinner time, they picked up our Dad and went to play games,
ride go carts,
bumper cars
and laser tag with the boys. They came in really late! Way past the boys bed time.

Kirby: Then Saturday Morning, they packed up and left! I tried to stop them, but it did not work.

Angel: I gave them the cold shoulder or back! They came in last night with out the boys but they smelled of Illyana , Ivan and Shadow! We checked all the bags and sacks to make sure none of them came to our house!

Kirby. This morning when Mom went out to get the mail, I sneaked out!

Angel: I thought Mom was going to have kittens! She was scared and mad all at the same time.

Kirby: I stayed on the porch! It smelled so good out there and the boomers in the sky did not scare me!

Angel: Yes, but you know we live too close tot a six lane road that is busy! If you had run that way, Mom would have been beside herself!

Kirby: Well, I did not get the change. Mom came out on the porch and grabbed me and told me that outside was a big NO!

Angel: It is good you did not go out just a little later! You would have been all wet! This is the busy street . Click on the picture ans see the water the cars are kicking up!
This is the water pouring off the roof by the porch!
Mom: Kirby has been sitting by the front door every time we open it. I have been trying to keep an eye on him, but this morning I got distracted by the weather and out he ran. He ignored me calling and talking to him. He forgot his name and would not look at me when I called. I threw the mail in the floor and went out after him. He played coy by rubbing on the planters. Many times when I attempt to pick him up, he runs and I was afraid he would it this time. He did not and I was able to get him. He sure was purring when I did pick him up! He must have really enjoyed his adventure even as short lived as it was! We did get a good and much needed rain!

Thoughts on Thursday

After they took the Granddaughter home, Mom and the boys stayed in yesterday and played wii. They have done that today too! The boys tried to talk Mom into letting them stay up late and play. Mom told them they had to talk to Dad (typical parents). He made a deal with them that if they went to bed on time (almost) they might get to stay up late tonight and go the Amazing Jake's for more laser tag, bumper cars and go carts. They promptly went to bed, but not to sleep! Again, typical boys!

I , Angel, have been very friendly with the boys. I am a very shy kitty even around Mom and Dad. Having Illyana and the boys this summer has taught me that it is OK to get close to people. I have let all the boys touch me. I still will not get in their laps or get too close.

I observed Illyana getting in Mom's lap when she was sat the computer. I have been trying it. I don't stay long, but each time I stay a little longer. Mom gives me lots of pats, rubs and scritches. I think I like this.

I have also been asking Dad to pick me up more in the mornings ans late at night. I stand on the bed and raise my paw and speak clearly. He stops what hi is doing and picks me up and loves on me! I think I like this too!

Mom: We are making progress. We hope some day the Angel will no longer be shy and be a lap cat!
