The cold front, well cool front, that came through here on Tuesday had a little wind and it broke a branch in our Oak tree. The branch was rubbing on the roof, so Dad and Mom had to take it down. Oaks tend to protect themselves in years of drought. They produce more acorns in an act of self preservation.
This is a small twig from the limb.
This is a cluster of the acorns. There were many, many of these on the limb that broke!
This is Kirby checking out the leaves!
This is Angel checking them out. Mom could not get a picture of Mac checking out the leaves cause he was headed to the food dish!
We are thankful the branch did not put a hole in the roof or a window. We are also thankful neither Mom or Dad got hurt taking it down!
I am thankful it did not put a hole in your roof either. That would have been bad!
Phew! We are happy that all's well, too. Big storms are scarey...'specially if you have a BIG tree in the yard.
I's glad you didn't get a hole in yours roof, either.
That branch looks like fun to sniff. Wish I could play with some of those acorns, too.
Love & Purrs,
"A Wizard and an Angel...and Kirby too" has been included in this weeks Sites To See. I hope you like the image I featured, and I hope this helps to attract many new visitors here.
A hole in the roof would be unpleasant. Then you would have to put up with hammering while it got fixed. We have lots of acorns falling right now too.
A hole in the roof would have been really really bad. Glad all's well.
We're also glad no one was hurt--and not the roof, either!
We love oak trees and leaves!
Thank goodness it didn't hurt your roof! Acorn are great! Our little sisbean brings them home from the mountain all the time!
What is that old wives' or farmers' saying where if there are a lot of acorns and nuts it is going to be a cold, hard winter?
Oh yea, that would have been awful if that thing would have hit something or someone! Y'all have a great weekend.
Glad all is well and the storm is over...Happy Friday, sweet friends...xoxo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
We are thankful you didn't get a hole in your roof too. We like to climb our oak tree.
It's a good thing the oak branch didn't hurt the roof and getting it down didn't hurt the parents! We bet those acorns would be fun to roll around on the floor!
We're glad that the branch didn't hurt anything or anyone either!! We bet those acorns would be fun to whap around the house!
That's NUTS! Um, . . . acorns!
WOW! Our English oaks have acorns like that but the end of each part of the leaf is rounded, not pointy. Interesting....
We've sent a little email purrsent to the "tuxies"...
WE had no idea oaks did that with acorns. Kirby looks cute checking out the leaves!
acorns are cute our mewmmie says, and we say they would be fun to bat around, but she told us at the vets where she used to work, that a little doggie choked to death on one...so maybe just looking at them on trees is safer...
