Angel: I told Mom she needed to remember that Illyana is A GrandKitten. She is not our sister! She is going to live with Shadow, Ivan and Jake! I have to keep telling her that!
Kirby: I got to meet her yesterday! She is a tiny little thing but she is a spitfire! She charged me and swatted at me. She might have even hissed at me. I tried to play, but she kept running away! We play slap paws under the door!
I went in the carrier to see what else was in it. Then when I was walking around it, she went in to see what I had done! Mom did not let me stay long.
Angel: I had no interest in going in! Mom took me in. I had to tell that little visitor that she was a visitor and not home for good! I growled, a lot. I hissed, a lot. I bowed up in the middle and floofed my tail. She bowed up and jumped at me. Mom removed me from the room. She did not even get any pictures!
Mom: Illyanna is going home to Shadow ans Ivan. I just have not had time to make the three hour track. She craves human contact. The shelter said she was shy and she was at first. I went into her room about every hour and spent time with her. By the second visit, she came out to meet me. Now she gets in my lap. As soon as you touch her, that purr motor starts running.
We put a toy in the room that has a fake mouse that swings around a track and she will reach in the 'holes' had play with the mouse. She loves it more than any of my cats ever did.
Angel and Kirby started in at bed time and it did not appear to be play. Angel was growling ans set to pounce Kirby. He was not making any sound, but they were locked in what looked like mortal combat. There is not a lot you can do to deter it. We finally had to make Kirby sleep in another room. It gets scary when the get this way. If this had just started with a new kitten in the house I might understand it. But this has been going on for a couple of weeks. Any suggestions?
There will be more pictures tomorrow.

I've had adults growl at new kits before but they usually stop after awhile. I did keep them separate for a few weeks--over a month when I wasn't around until they got used to each other.
Chey fell in love with the young cat immediately but she was the outsider coming into my house at the time. The kitten made her feel more at home. I think she missed her kittens who were close to the same age.
I think that it is great that Shadow is getting a little sister to go with his new little brother - it will probably make her happy because they can play together (and not bug her).
As far as Angel and Kirby, I wonder if it is the spring weather that has them all riled up - we have had a lot more wrestling at our house too, although your two sound more upset, so I am not sure. Of course at our house we also have 3 older cats and one 10 month old kitten, so his energy is part of the problem (he wants to play, and they don't). When we brought him home, it did cause tension between the other three, so maybe the temporary new addition is part of it (plus, if Ivan was there also, that could have been a cause). I hope they start to get along better.
Ok, hate to repost but it won't let me edit - that first line should say "her new little brother" - I know she is a girl, but with 3 boys I tend to do that (even to Lola, my own girl). Sorry Shadow!
We don't haf any new kittens here but Zippy, who just turned 12, has a little bit of spring fever and has taken to jumping on Speedy out of the blue, just for fun. She's never gotten along with Sadie, you could even say they hate each other and mostly just barely tolerate each other. Some cats will never actually have a relationship with another, the best you can hope for is tolerance.
Amy no harm... Nanna calls Ivan a girl all the time.. just makes me laugh... the little cuz isn't scared of anything...Not even four dogs or five beaning boys.... He is so ready to meet and play with Iliana... Boo like to play with Ivan.. but she just doesn't get pouncing... she does bounce..lick... lick... bounce.. and that is just not done! LOL
Ferris has a bad habit of jumping on the other cats for no reason. We have no clue why he does it really. I think he may do it out of playfulness, but the other cats take it as agression which causes a fight?
I think it must be quite scarey to have a lot of hissing and falling out. It should get better in a few days hopefuly.
Fingers crossed for you.

Is it just rough playing that is getting out of hand? Gracie and George do that often. Maybe he doesn't know he is being so rough.... Like Grace does and just and is clueless to it...till things are just too far gone... No clue as so how to stop it.. with kids are dogs.. I'd be more help.. Maybe stop put him in time out at the start of it... so he knows that is the wrong path? Just an idea
We've been together for 7 1/2 yrs and STILL don't get along!! It's mostly Meeko being the instigator. Some stand-offs, but no "real" knock-down,drag-outs. THe only time we really get along is when we're moving and we are in unfamiliar territory. Grammies ofur cats were kinda the same way too. Makes owr Momma sad that we don't cuddle or snuggle wif each ofur.

Hopefully, they can work things out soon.
Mrs. OZ hissed at everybody for WEEKS when she came here. And when Notty and Luna came she did the same. Luna still hisses at Mrs. OZ, and once in a while Notty and I are getting into a real fight...
Things will work out with patience and love from your staff!
Aww! When I moved, I had Rufus stay for a few weeks at a house with another cat and the other cat was very hostile to Rufus, hissing, growling, all sorts of mean gestures and noises. (Rufus cowered.) But over time the other cat got used to it and let it go. I think as long as the cats don't feel like they are being replaced, they should adjust.
Also, I sprayed Feliway everywhere before I left Rufus there so you can always try that.
For a first encounter, it went pretty good!
We do not know what to tell you about Angel and Kirby, as we get a long wonderfully, except if one of us comes home with Vet smell!
Illyana is so cute, it will be hard not to want to keep her.
I saw your comment on our site about Angel and Kirby. Neutering doesn't deter a male cat from his instinctive behavior which is to jump on the back of the female and bite her neck (this is mating behavior).
Have you ever tried Feliway? It is a spray that has pheremones in it and may help the aggression. Worth a try anyway.
Ivan and I would like to award you with the One Lovely Blog award.. Be sure to stop by and pick up the award...
Illyana is so precious. We thought she was coming to live with Angel and Kirby too. Sorry that the two of them are still fighting. Pinky and I still do, we have lived together for almost 2 years, and i chase her and she smacks me around and I smack back.
